Reimagining Online Education

CREATE emerged through years of collaborative work in northern, rural, and remote education contexts across Canada.

As we partnered with communities, educators, healthcare organizations, and learners, we heard a consistent message:

“This is not how people want to learn.”

Traditional online education models often relied on static content and standardized approaches that did not fully reflect the realities, strengths, cultures, and ways of knowing within the communities they aimed to serve.

That feedback became a turning point.

What began as individual projects and partnerships evolved into a shared commitment to reimagining online and distributed education through collaboration, accessibility, cultural responsiveness, and community-rooted design.

Today, CREATE works alongside institutions, organizations, and communities to co-design learning experiences that are:

• accessible,
• flexible,
• culturally responsive,
• technology-enabled,
• and grounded in real-world practice.

We believe the future of online education is built through relationships, responsiveness, and partnership — creating learning experiences that strengthen local capacity while reflecting the priorities and strengths already present within communities.
